THAILAND. The Trinity Forum, the world’s most influential airport commercial revenues conference, will take place this year on 25-27 October in Bangkok, hosted by King Power International Company (Thailand).
The event is co-organised by The Moodie Davitt Report, ACI World and ACI Asia-Pacific. King Power previously co-hosted (with Airports of Thailand) a hugely memorable Trinity Forum in 2011. The first Platinum Sponsors will be announced this month.*
The event will be held at the Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel, next to the retailer’s spectacular Rangnam Road downtown duty free store. It will begin with an Opening Cocktail reception on Wednesday 25 October, followed by the conference on 26 and 27 October, with a Gala Dinner to be hosted on the night of the 27th. An additional social programme for those intending to stay on in the Thai capital is being arranged.
The Trinity Forum, first held in 2003, seeks to improve dialogue and mutual understanding between airports, concessionaires and brands to the benefit of that critical fourth party – the travelling consumer.
“At no time in our industry’s history has the importance of enhanced partnership between industry stakeholders been greater” – King Power International Company Chief Executive Officer Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha
King Power International Company Chief Executive Officer Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha said: “We are delighted to see The Trinity Forum – the world’s leading airport commercial revenues conference – return to Bangkok and Thailand, following the hugely successful event here in 2011.
“Since then The Trinity Forum has grown further in influence and stature and at no time in our industry’s history has the importance of enhanced partnership between industry stakeholders been greater. We look forward to welcoming delegates from all over the world and delivering a taste of Thai hospitality that they will never forget.”
“The future surely lies in maintaining relevance through excellence and differentiation – lofty goals for which enhanced partnership is critical – and in fusing the physical and virtual retail worlds” – The Moodie Davitt Report Chairman Martin Moodie
The Moodie Davitt Report Chairman Martin Moodie said: “We’re honoured and privileged to bring The Trinity Forum back to Bangkok. Not only is it an amazing, vibrant city, but it is also one of the hot-spots of global travel retail. That is very much down to the ambition of this year’s host, King Power International Company, who have demonstrated time and again their commitment to investment, excellence and to the spirit of stakeholder partnership that underpins the Trinity concept.
“Travel retail, I believe, is at a crossroads, a sector buoyed by rising passenger traffic growth on the one hand but burdened by structural weaknesses and the challenge from e-commerce on the other. The future surely lies in maintaining relevance through excellence and differentiation – lofty goals for which enhanced partnership is critical – and in fusing the physical and virtual retail worlds. The Trinity Forum’s dual role is to champion excellence and innovation while challenging the sector’s structural weaknesses. We look forward to welcoming senior representatives from all the key stakeholder sectors to The Trinity Forum 2017 in Bangkok.”
ACI World Director General Angela Gittens said: “I am pleased to announce that Bangkok, Thailand will be the venue for the 2017 Trinity Forum in October — this year kindly hosted by King Power International Company. I note that ACI’s World Airport Traffic database showed that Thailand’s passenger traffic increased by an impressive +22.9% in 2015, demonstrating that the country is part of the emerging and developing Asia that promises robust passenger traffic and GDP growth in the years to come.
“With increased passenger volume comes greater opportunities for airport commercial activities and indeed, Thai airport non-aeronautical revenues per passenger in 2015 were well above average. As such, Bangkok makes a fitting venue for The Trinity Forum, which is the premier event for the innovating retail sector to showcase fresh concepts. We will have a fabulous line-up of the best and brightest from whom to learn and with whom to network and share.”
ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Director – Patti Chau said: “Over the years, The Trinity Forum has established itself as one of the most important and influential events on airport commercial revenues. Together with our partners, The Moodie Davitt Report and ACI World, we are excited that The Trinity Forum 2017 will be returning to Bangkok once again, hosted by the leading travel retail group, King Power.
“Delighting passengers by offering a comprehensive mix of brands throughout their airport journey, thereby maximising the non-aeronautical revenues, is on top of the agenda for our airport leaders. The Trinity Forum is an ideal platform for decision makers from airports, retailers and brands to collaborate and share best practices in order to achieve this mutual goal. The capital city of the Land of Smiles, Bangkok, will be the ideal location for this prestigious event. Together with our partners, we look forward to welcoming you to Bangkok in October 2017.”
