HONG KONG, CHINA. The Trinity Forum 2023, the world’s leading airport commercial revenues event, will be hosted by Airport Authority Hong Kong on 25-26 October.

The 2023 edition is the 20th anniversary of the event, first held in London in February 2003. This will be fifth time The Trinity Forum has been held in China and the second in Hong Kong after a highly successful event in 2015. Venue details will be announced in coming weeks as registration opens.

Airport Authority Hong Kong Executive Director, Commercial Cissy Chan said: “It is our honour to be hosting The Trinity Forum again following the 2015 event. As normality gradually returns, we witnessed a good start into 2023 with the resumption of normal travel with Mainland China and our key markets. Travellers are coming back, and, in fact, we are close to serving at approximately 40% passenger traffic of the pre-pandemic level during the recent Chinese New Year holidays.

“Over the last three years, we have been pushing ahead with major projects and facility upgrades that further consolidate Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) as the leading international aviation hub in the region. The third runway was officially commissioned in November 2022, and the entire Three-runway System, which includes a new Terminal 2, T2 concourse, new automated people mover and baggage system is also expected to be completed by 2024.

“Meanwhile, the luxury shopping zone and boarding gate areas have been upgraded. With three new iconic duplex shops opened, the launch of the HKIA Loyalty Programme (‘HKairport Rewards’) together with the upcoming Luxury Concierge service in March 2023, we hope to engage passengers with a more premium shopping experience at HKIA. New F&B options have also been added to our existing wide range of offerings.

Hong Kong International Airport travel retailers such as Duty Zero by cdf are bouncing back fast as the passenger traffic rebound accelerates

“The transition of HKIA from a City Airport to an Airport City is also taking shape. With the development of the 11 SKIES commercial complex well underway and the construction of Hong Kong’s biggest indoor performance venue as part of AsiaWorld Expo Phase 2 to commence soon, the SKYCITY will soon become Hong Kong’s largest integrated complex for retail, dining, entertainment, conferences and exhibitions, with hotels, and offices facilities.

“2023 will be an exciting year for us, and we look forward to greeting you all here.”

The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie said: “We are thrilled to bring the Trinity Forum back to Hong Kong, China together with our long-standing partners ACI World and ACI Asia-Pacific. We’re delighted and honoured by Airport Authority Hong Kong’s support of this year’s landmark event.

“With the Hong Kong, Mainland and Macau borders now open, this is a tremendously exciting time for travel retail and airport commerce in the region after the difficulties of the past three years. There is a tremendous sense of revival in the air both metaphorically and literally with market confidence soaring and air traffic rebounding strongly.

“What better way to mark the reopening of Hong Kong and the whole of China to the travel world than to host the 20th anniversary edition of The Trinity Forum here, home to one of the world’s great travel gateways, Hong Kong International Airport?”

ACI World Director General Luis Felipe de Oliveira said: “We are thrilled to announce our continued partnership with The Moodie Davitt Report and ACI Asia-Pacific for the much-anticipated 2023 Trinity Forum, this year hosted by Airport Authority Hong Kong.

“This is the world’s premier event dedicated to the nexus of airports, retailers and brands – essential to the economic health of airports and customer experience excellence worldwide.

“The challenge and opportunity for airports and airport retailers worldwide, is to safeguard and develop the commercial side of airports by evolving in step with customer expectations. This involves forging innovative business partnerships and developing new revenue streams and commercial models—all elements that are at the heart of The Trinity Forum.”

ACI Asia-Pacific Director General Stefano Baronci said:At ACI Asia-Pacific, we are extremely proud to continue our association with ACI World and The Moodie Davitt Report, the industry’s leading business intelligence and news provider for the global travel retail sector.
