The new branding, which encapsulates the Dufry and Autogrill combination, was unveiled during the TFWA World Exhibition on 2 October in Cannes.

Avolta CEO Xavier Rossinyol said: “Avolta’s strategy and our DNA is built on creating win-win-win partnerships as we make travellers happier, much like the collaborative spirit that The Trinity Forum embodies.

“For this reason, we wholeheartedly endorse this industry initiative and thank The Moodie Davitt Report for making it a reality – so it is with great pleasure that we announce our Diamond Partnership of this event.

“Our traveller-centric vision of Travel Experience transcends the traditional boundaries between retail and F&B. More diversified and resilient than ever before, our newly combined business is now unified under one company as Avolta, ready to realise this vision.

“At The Trinity Forum, our team looks forward to exploring shared projects and future plans, as we welcome in the opportunities that lay ahead for our industry, both today and in the years to come.”

Mondelez World Travel Retail becomes The Trinity Forum’s first Sustainability Partner

News

INTERNATIONAL. Mondelez World Travel Retail has been named as The Trinity Forum’s first Sustainability Partner.

The leading confectionery manufacturer has become strongly associated with sustainability in recent years, as many channel players collectively zone in on eco-friendly practices.

The Mondelez portfolio covers all main confectionery categories including chocolate, biscuit, gum and candy. Its globally known brands include Toblerone, Milka, Cadbury, Oreo, Daim, Côte d’Or, Mirabell, Marabou, Freia, Trident, Stimorol and Bassett’s.

Several of these brands have been at the centre of recent Mondelez airport activations promoting sustainability.

Earlier this year, to coincide with World Environment Day, Mondelez World Travel Retail partnered with The Moodie Davitt Report for a successful month-long social media campaign that encouraged travel retail industry stakeholders to embrace sustainable practices. The campaign ran throughout June, with all material accompanied by the hashtag #TRmaderight.

Mondelez World Travel Retail Managing Director Jaya Singh will be among the speakers at The Trinity Forum, the world’s most influential airport commercial revenues conference (25-26 October). He will present a special sustainability-focused presentation underlining Mondelez’s Travel Retail Made Right industry agenda.

Singh said: “Sustainability has been a driving force for much of Mondelez WTR’s activity in travel retail this year. I am pleased to build on the incredible momentum built thus far with an industry first.

Mondelez World Travel Retail celebrated the achievement of initiating 1 million trees being planted by environmental non-profit organisation One Tree Planted earlier this year. Promotions at leading airports, such as the one pictured above, helped towards achieving this milestone.

“With our partners at The Moodie Davitt Report, we are proud to announce Mondelez WTR as Trinity Forum’s first ever Sustainability Partner as we continue to advance our Travel Retail Made Right agenda for people and planet.

“People are at the heart of Mondelez WTR’s operations and we are pleased to highlight our commitment to implementing sustainable practices and products for the greater good of the industry and beyond.”

He added: “Mondelez WTR’s dedication to delivering sustainability in an authentic and meaningful way inspired us to gain direct insight from consumers to understand what sustainability looks, tastes and feels like for them.

“Our goal is to share these results with industry peers to encourage the advancement of sustainable practices and products and grow the confectionery category.”

The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie said, “It is our pleasure and privilege to welcome China Duty Free Group as a Platinum Partner of The Trinity Forum in this auspicous 20th anniversary edition. From my Hong Kong, China base, I have watched and chronicled CDFG’s extraordinary progress over recent years, rising from 19th in our Top Travel Retailer rankings in 2010 to number one spot a decade later.

“And it’s  not just about sales volume. CDFG has also led a qualitative revolution of travel retail in China, led by the acclaimed cdf Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex and the magnificent cdf Haikou International Duty Free Shopping Complex opened in late 2022.

“We are equally honoured by Luke Chang’s participation as a keynote speaker and delighted that our audience will benefit from his great travel retail knowledge and insight. The event’s return to China for the first time since 2018 (when it was held in Shanghai) is particularly timely as Hong Kong’s vital travel and tourism sector rebounds.

His presentation will be followed by a special address to be revealed in coming days.

In a powerful follow-up panel themed ‘Meeting consumer needs in the post-COVID landscape’, Airport Authority Hong Kong Executive Director Commercial Cissy Chan and L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific Managing Director Tao Zhang will be joined by Dufry Asia Pacific President and Chief Executive Officer Freda Cheung; Alipay Greater China International Business Chief Executive & General Manager Venetia Lee; and Humphrey Ho, Managing Partner, Americas, Hylink Group.

Dufry Chief Executive Officer Xavier Rossinyol will join The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie in an exclusive conversation and share his views on a fast-evolving travel retail landscape across all channels from duty free to convenience retailing and food & beverage.
